Effective Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) has been demonstrated to have positive effects on raising the aspirations of young people; increasing their motivation and self-esteem. At Hampton College, our CEIAG programme is currently under review and development, in order to ensure that as a school, we are providing information, advice and guidance of the highest quality, in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks laid out by the Government. Progress: At Hampton College, we encourage students to develop their employability skills and progress into well-rounded individuals who are ready to join the workforce, or take the next steps towards the career of their choice. Throughout the Personal Development curriculum, students develop a variety of skills, which are further enhanced on collapse days, and through other related opportunities throughout the school year. They have the chance to test these skills in Year 10, when they complete work shadowing during enrichment week.
Partnership: We work in partnership with a variety of local companies who provide lots of opportunities for the students of Hampton College. Examples include: Whirlpool, who provide work shadowing opportunities for 15-20 of our students each year and we also have connections to the Army and RAF, to name a few. As part of their entitlement, students have access to a range of external providers, to ensure they learn about approved technical qualifications and apprenticeships. Pride: We are extremely proud of our developing careers provision, and we are working hard to ensure that we are meeting all of the Gatsby benchmarks. We annually assess the impact of our careers programme, using internal and external audits. Our very low number of NEETS (Not in Education, Employment or Training) demonstrates the effectiveness of the programme. All information, together with the CEIAG Policy, is reviewed and updated annually. The date of the next review is March 2023.
In conjunction with our existing provision, Hampton College works with an external careers adviser, who works with students throughout the academic year. Any student can request an appointment with our independent adviser, Ms E Duckworth. Bookings can be made via Mr P Harrison.
