Year 5 Egyptian day

Year 5 Egyptian day

3 May 2024

On Thursday 28th April, 63 Y5 students from our primary phase and their teachers were invited to ‘walk like an Egyptian’ over to Hampton College secondary phase for our Egyptian themed Y5 Deep Learning Day. Students were given the opportunity to experience life at Hampton College and get a taste of what our secondary phase has to offer.

Year 5 experienced a variety of interesting sessions such as: making campion jars and learning how to bury and give respect to the dead; mummifying their friends with languages and looking for cryptic words; singing their hearts out whilst dancing the Egyptian way.

Another highlight of the day was their Egyptian themed lunch from our wonderful Cucina team: Egyptian curry and jewelled rice! The (not-so) Egyptian slushies were also (unsurprisingly) a huge hit amongst the Year 5s...and the teachers loved them too!

The whole day was a wonderful experience across all phases of Hampton College and we thank the Year 5s for their exceptional behaviour, attitude and confidence towards the day and our adventures in ancient Egypt.
