Rob, our fantastic chef won the national title of School Chef of the Year 2021 on 13th October. He was voted Britain’s No 1 school chef by judges at the National Final which took place at the Hilton in Birmingham.
Rob’s winning dishes were aromatic steamed bao bun, sriracha glazed Chinese cabbage, asian salad with a soy and chilli dressing and for dessert coconut and lemongrass panna cotta, pineapple compote, charred pineapple with coconut tuile.
Contestants had a maximum of £1.40 a head to spend and 90 minutes to prepare, cook and serve an imaginative two course meal suitable for serving to students within both primary and secondary schools. Competitors included Quorn as as the protein element of the main course and a desert based on 50% fruit content.
On winning the national title, Rob said "I am absolutely thrilled and proud to have won the national title. With the standard and skill level amongst this year's finalists being so high, it was an honour to have competed with such a talented group of people. I am looking forward to an exciting year as the new LACA School Chef of the Year national champion".
Rob now will now receive invitation to high profile catering industry engagements.
