On Thursday 7th November Hampton College stepped away from our normal lesson timetable and hosted an array of workshops. Students in year 7 learnt about democracy, politics and the student council.
Year 8 students had a rotation of healthy Lifestyle tasks and workshops where they learnt about creating a healthy egg based snack, looked at diet analysis, had a walk around the local area, a boxercise class and finally a session with This360. This360 is a new local company who use tyres to engage students to think about the bigger picture; the session was based around self-awareness, how students see themselves, their self-esteem and used the tyre for small workouts. Year 8 D of E students walked 10.5 miles from Sutton village via Ferry Meadows all the way back to school.
Year 9 students had a day of science based lessons learning about how to make cosmetics, forensics, decay and social science based talks from University Centre Peterborough around Criminology and Psychosocial studies.
At Key Stage 4, Year 10 carried out their English speaking tests, whilst year 11 had an engaging workshop from positively you and prepped for their PPE exams which start next week.
Sixth form students had informative talks from ARU and University Centre Peterborough regarding student finance and degree apprenticeships. A group of 65 year 12 students had an informative day at Nottingham Trent University and thoroughly enjoyed looking around the campus and learning about the courses they offer.
Students really enjoyed their activities and found them not only helpful but engaging too. We are proud of all students in school and out on trips who were a credit to Hampton College. We are very grateful to all the staff who worked tirelessly to put this day together and also the external companies who came into school to put on workshops for students.
